Brands Hatch Indy

The final round of the BMCRC 2018 season was held at Brands Hatch on the Indy Circuit. With both racers present it was a full team that arrived at the track for Friday test day.

Friday was delayed in starting due to heavy fog, but when the sun burned through it was a glorious sunny day and warm temperatures. Talan spent the day instructing, whilst Andy spent the day learning to ride the Yamaha R1. With a new bike there are always niggles in the set up, and so it took until the final session of the day for Andy to get all adjustments made.

Saturday began cold and greasy, then became very very wet . Andy was first race and Talan was third race, so it was time to be careful out on the track. Both racers were smooth and their ability to cope with the difficult conditions showed in their results. Each was able to make progression from the back of the grid, with Talan managing to make the best progress and in the second race of the day he finished 9th overall and 6th in class from a starting grid position of 28.

Sunday was a brighter day and it was Andy that took the most advantage of the dry track and cranked up the R1 power, enabling him to lap the Indy circuit in a new PB for him (and for the team) with a 51.7sec lap. Talan was unable to match the time, but with the first outing of the R6 on UK soil he was able to lap in 53.0 sec. The racers enjoyed good battles in all the races over the weekend and got to grips with the Yamaha machines.

One more event to compete in, Lord of Lydden on 20/21 Oct.
